Headmaster's Welcome

A message from John Rouleau.

Greetings and Welcome to Rock Point SchoolJRheadscorner.jpg

On this website you will find information about Rock Point School, presented as best it can be, virtually.  Please explore and learn about our wonderful community.  Every day at Rock Point School, students face and overcome new challenges, learn about the world and themselves, and work together to have fun and grow, individually and as a community.

I have worked at Rock Point School for thirty nine years and every single day presents a new and different experience.  I am proud work with students who are so creative, individual, and so willing to take risks as they explore the second chance that they have been given with a place at Rock Point School.  I am also proud to count myself amongst a staff who are dedicated, hard working, fun, and passionate both about their profession and the students.

I recently had the pleasure of making an announcement after lunch recently enforcing upon the students that they may not walk on the ice that covers the lake during the winter.  I was unequivocal in my insistence.  I presented many scenarios, many instances, and many examples in which they must not go out of the ice.  There was no question in my mind.  Some in the gathered crowd might have felt that I had gone on a little too long and was a little overzealous but I felt that I had struck exactly the right note until...a hand was raised in the corner of the room.  "Ah ha," I thought, "a question."  "Yes?" I inquired of the student.  She looked me right in the eyes and asked without hesitation, "So we can go out on the ice?"  The gleam in her eye and the smile at the corner of her mouth was fantastic, as she so deliberately and so publicly challenged me for the sake of humor and the thrill of contradicting an authority figure in such a simple and benign way.  It is because of students like this young lady that I work at Rock Point School.

This website presents information about the academic program, the residential program, and the community in general.  I would like to cordially invite you to visit us and experience Rock Point School for yourself in real, not virtual, time.   This is a wonderful school full of creative, interesting, determined students who are working hard pursuing a new direction in their lives.   Please come and meet us and see if this school is the right place for you to do the same.

Yours sincerely,
