Kristine Harootunian - Math Teacher - Came to Rock Point School in 2003Kristine began her Rock Point School career with two years as a residential educator but now is one of our two math teachers and Director of Technology. In college, she majored in both Fine Arts and Mathematics, two seemingly different subjects, and tied the two together because of the inherent problem solving that are at the root of both disciplines. She tries to bring a more creative and visual aspect into her classroom with activities such as finding angles after unfolding origami, writing proofs on the popular TV show CSI, and looking at the ways that algebra can save you money. Students in her math class have been heard screaming “TADA” when they solve hard problems, and saying things such as, “I never knew you could have so much fun in a math class!" Kathy Rossman - Science Teacher - Came to Rock Point School in 2000Kathy is passionate about teaching all four of the science courses offered at Rock Point School even though geology was her undergraduate specialty which she also pursued in some post grad work. And even though she has the title of "teacher," Kathy considers herself a life-long student because there is always more to learn! She is driven to seek out and absorb professional development opportunities - anything from one-day bat conferences to spending 2-weeks in Iceland learning about the geology - that she can then incorporate into her own teaching.
