Creative Reuse Showcase
The results are in and Rock Point School students are triumphant again! Every year art teacher, Jeannie Waltz, leads the senior class in participating in the Creative Reuse Showcase put on by the Chittenden County Solid Waste District. The idea behind the show is to take waste products and give them new life by turning them into something else. For example a guitar made from a cigar box, a pencil holder made from specimen cups, or an outfit made from cassette tapes.
We had three winners and two honorable mentions this year.
Andrea Sammett won first place in the 'Perfectly Practical' category for her lamp made from old film. Daniel Reiner and Brandon Cummings' pieces - the guitar and the outfit - won special mention for the originality and creativity of their pieces. All of this work will be on display at the Frog Hollow Gallery in downtown Burlington from March 4th until March 29th.
Jeannie entered this year for the first time and won the teacher's category for her laptop case made from old saran wrap (cleaned!) from the school kitchen. Her work will join the students in the show.
Congratulations to all.
