Gateway to the Stars - Prom 2011
Prom was an amazing success.
Rock Point saw some unusual visitors last night - a rocket ship with a NASA driver, Prince William and Duchess Catherine, Mr. Ding a Ling and a whole lot of tough looking dudes in sun glasses. It was prom night of course!
RPS prom does not run along the lines of a traditional high school prom. There is a lamo (not a limo) which this year was driven by Gus dressed as a NASA astronaut and stopped at Mr Ding a Ling for an ice cream, everyone is encouraged to dress fancily or crazily and we lift restrictions on treats and soda for the night.
It was a beautiful warm evening and the students enjoyed lamo rides and smoothies made by Emily, Linda and Kristine and then were treated to a delicious dinner in the dining room. The senior class and their dates had a special meal cooked for them by Rowan and Luke and were served by the teachers. What a treat! After dinner there was dancing in the library which was decorated by the prom committee with the theme of "Gateway to the Stars". The library looked wonderful with silver and turquoise fabrics, sparkly stars and chandeliers.
Prom was fabulous.
