Rock Point Students Hike for Hunger

On Friday 30th September, the entire student body of Rock Point School hiked up Mt. Philo in Charlotte, Vermont as part of a sponsored hike to raise money for Hunger Free Vermont.  Our state is recorded as having some of the worst levels of childhood hunger in the country and Hunger Free Vermont seeks to remedy this by providing hungry children with nutritious meals, education on healthy eating and summer food programs.   The Hike For Hunger is their annual event in which over 25 school groups participated. We raised $306 for this cause.  This is a big improvement on last year's $187 raised.  Last year all the schools who hiked raised $32,777 for the Learning Kitchen program run by Hunger Free VT.  This program teaches young people to cook nutritious food on a budget.
